Fiesta Island 20K TT
October 14, 2012 – San Diego, CA
Masters 35+ – 2nd – 27:48:00
275 watts – 26.5 MPH
As usual, I don’t get good sleep the night before the race, but I end up having a decent performance. The weather for this race was nearly ideal. Barely a hint of wind, with temps in the low-60s. You can tell the days were getting shorter, since it was dark at registration. It doesn’t hurt to bring a flashlight to this race. I got a good warm-up in, and felt good the first few miles.
My first lap felt good, but then I could sense my legs were tired from my ride yesterday and my glutes didn’t have enough TT position training in them. The great thing is that I stayed mentally in this race, even though I was tired. I kept focused on the rider in front of me and focused on having a faster last lap. I ended up finishing fast and having a stronger last lap. Happy with my efforts.
